Spring Break Extra Credit

Hello everyone......I hope you all have a wonderful spring break. I am offering 5 points to go towards your HW grade if you complete the following.....

Trig:

Make a tissue box with formulas and or math problems you might encounter on the ACT. It is your job to prove to me you did not do this the morning we get back from break. The more creative the better. I am sure you seen some examples on my desk all year, now it's your turn.

I do not need you to buy the most expensive type of tissues.....but please.....no sandpaper!!!

Geo: here is the assignment Ms. Strand gave out in class.

Geometry Extra Credit for Spring Break: Mathematician “Baseball” Card

You can earn up to 5 extra credit points toward your homework score by completing the following project over Spring Break. Do some research on a mathematician you have heard mentioned and about whom you would like to know more. Similar to what you would find on a baseball card about your favorite player, create a card identifying this mathematician. Some things you may want to include:

  • Front – name, picture, what he/she is famous for (ex. Euclid – “Father of Geometry”)
  • Back – biographical information (ex. when and where did they live, what did they study), important mathematical findings

Your projects will be assessed based on creativity, effort, and a demonstration of your learning. I expect that these will be completed over break, so the quality of your work should reflect this. Again, this is a time to be creative in how you think about math, so have fun and enjoy your break!
